Kavali (Andhra Pradesh), May 27 (PTI) A mid-sea accident involving two fishing boats off the Nellore coast left two fishermen drowned, while the fate of two others is unknown, a police official said on Wednesday.

According to Kavali DSP VV Ramana Kumar, there were two boats with two fishermen in each, and there was no clarity yet on whether the remaining two fishermen were alive or dead.

“Two fishermen were found dead near the Nellore coastline in Kavali area after the boats they were travelling in met with an accident while returning from a fishing expedition in the early hours of Wednesday,” Kumar told PTI.

There was no clarity on how the accident occurred. But it happened while the fishermen were returning, and there were gusty winds in the Kavali area, and several trees were uprooted.

According to police, the fishermen had ventured into the sea late on Tuesday, and the mishap occurred in the wee hours of Wednesday.
