New Delhi, May 13 (PTI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday launched a series of measures under its Heat Action Plan, including the provision of cold drinking water and ORS solutions for sanitation workers, amid intensifying heatwave conditions in the national capital.

In an official statement, the civic body officials said arrangements have been made at sanitary inspector offices and designated roll-call sites to ensure sanitation workers have access to drinking water and oral rehydration solutions to prevent dehydration during field duty.

Officials further informed that caps have also been distributed among field staff working in extreme heat conditions. Additionally, two vehicles equipped with drinking water and ORS supplies have been deployed in each zone to provide relief to workers on duty.

According to the statement, the civic body has also taken steps to protect animals and birds from the heatwave. Earthen pots filled with water have been placed at designated dog-feeding points, while similar arrangements have been made in public parks for birds and other animals.

“The availability of ORS and drinking water will provide significant relief to employees while they perform their duties in the field,” the statement read. PTI MSJ MPL MPL
