Nadiad, Oct 14 (PTI) A 54-year-old man was arrested on Monday in Kheda in Gujarat for allegedly raping four minor girls over the last one year, a police official said.

The accused has been identified as Chandrakant Patel and the victims are in the 8-11 age group, Superintendent of Police Rajesh Gadhiya said.

“The village where the incident took place is under Vaso police station limits. The mother of one of the girls, who lives close to Patel’s home, noticed changes in her behaviour. The child told her about her ordeal. After talking to others in the area, the woman found out Patel had raped three other girls as well,” the SP told reporters.

Vasa police registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested Patel, Gadhiya said.

Patel, who lives alone in the village and does painting jobs, is accused of raping the four girls over the past one year after offering them chocolates and biscuits, the SP said. PTI COR PJT BNM
