Amethi (UP), Aug 4 (PTI) A 22-year-old man was found dead with his throat slit in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district, with police suspecting that the murder may have stemmed from an old family feud.

Three accused have been detained in connection with the murder of Ankit Kashyap on Monday night, police said.

According to his family, Kashyap was found dead in the house of one Sukhai Yadav in Gauriganj town. They accused Yadav of confining Kashyap inside the house before slitting his throat.

Police sources said Kashyap had married Yadav’s niece three years ago, and preliminary suspicion points to an old family feud as the possible motive behind the killing.

Additional Superintendent of Police Gyanendra Kumar Singh said a case had been registered based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family.

Three accused have been detained, and the body has been sent for postmortem while further legal proceedings are underway.
