Man deployed for tree-pruning exercise dies in Thane after falling off a branch

Thane, Jul 23 (PTI) A man cutting branches as part of a tree pruning exercise in Thane amid rains fell down and died on Thursday, a civic official said.

The incident took place in the afternoon at Balkum Pada number 3, he said.

“The Regional Disaster Management Cell had received a call alerting about a tree fall. When the team reached there along with fire brigade personnel, the man was found dead. He is yet to be identified,” the official said.

It is learnt that he is part of a team of a contractor. It is not not known immediately if safety precautions and equipment were deployed while the tree were being pruned and cut, he added.

Leader of the House in the Thane Municipal Corporation Hanumant Jagdale rushed to the civil hospital to get first hand information on the incident, his office informed. PTI COR BNM
