Srinagar, Sept 1 (PTI) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday instructed senior officials to maintain pressure on terror networks, enhance ground-level operational synergy to eliminate emerging threats.
Emphasising that public trust is vital to the security apparatus, Sinha directed police officials to foster engagement with the public, designate specific hours for citizen interaction and grievance redressal.
“Police must continuously engage with the public. Every genuine grievance must be addressed with sensitivity and every investigation must be conducted with fairness, transparency and impartiality,” he said.
While reviewing the security situation and assessing the security apparatus and strategic preparedness across the Union Territory, he underscored transparent, impartial and sensitive complaint handling.
Sinha chaired a meeting of high-level officials, including chief secretary Atal Dulloo and DGP Nalin Prabhat.
The Lieutenant Governor commended the Jammu and Kashmir Police and security agencies for their action against drug smugglers. He directed officials to intensify operations against narco-terror networks and enhance monitoring of emerging digital threats.
Sinha directed police to monitor social media platforms to counter anti-national propaganda, digital misinformation and online blackmailing.
During the meeting, the DGP and Principal Secretary Home apprised the Lieutenant Governor of the overall security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.
IGPs, DIGs and Divisional Commissioners briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the security situation in their respective areas, anti-terror operations, law and order, drug smuggling and other emerging challenges. PTI MIJ ASD ASD
