Thane, Aug 15 (PTI) Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Saturday that Maharashtra will lead India’s journey towards becoming a global superpower, highlighting the country’s rapid advancement in defence, space and digital sectors.
Addressing Independence Day celebrations at the Thane Collectorate, he called tech-savvy Gen Z India’s true superpower and encouraged them to drive innovation through startups, AI solutions, and green technologies.
Emphasising a growth strategy powered by farmers, youth, women, and modern technology, Shinde pointed to the nation’s progress in defence, space and digital spheres.

To transform his home turf Thane into a modern hub, he said, several major infrastructure projects are being executed. He highlighted the Thane internal Metro corridor, the Thane-Borivali twin-tunnel road project and a project to deploy 6,059 AI-enabled security cameras in the city.
The event also featured the launch of the loan waiver programme ‘Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karjamukti scheme, 2026’. Outstanding administrative officers and meritorious students were honoured during the ceremony. PTI COR NR
