Thane, Jul 23 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) S Chockalingam on Thursday chaired a review meeting in Thane to assess the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, and instructed authorities to ensure an accurate up-to-date and error-free voters’ list.
Addressing senior administrative and election officials at the meeting held in Thane Collectorate, he issued strict directives to complete every phase of the ongoing exercise within the stipulated time-frame while strictly monitoring the ground-level work of Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
Directing the BLOs to conduct a door-to-door verification, the CEO emphasised that every voter’s information must be validated, enumeration forms filled accurately, and pending applications scrutinised and settled promptly so that no eligible voter is left out.
“SIR is a critical initiative aimed at making the electoral roll reliable, transparent and comprehensive,” Chockalingam said.
During the meeting, officials informed the CEO that 62 per cent of form distribution work has been completed across Thane district so far, while 22 per cent of data digitisation has been processed.
To expedite the exercise and meet deadlines, additional staff has been deployed and personnel realigned based on workload across constituencies, they told him.
Thane District Collector Shrikrishna Panchal, Thane Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ranjit Yadav along with the commissioners or senior officials of the civic bodies of Navi Mumbai, Ulhasnagar, Mira Bhayandar, Kalyan-Dombivli, Bhiwandi Nizampur and Thane were present on the occasion.PTI COR NP
