Pune, Jul 28 (PTI) A 61-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting two minor sisters at knifepoint on multiple occasions in Pimpri Chinchwad city of Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Ramzan Bagwan, has been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, an official said.
According to police, Bagwan, who lives in the victims’ neighbourhood, had been allegedly sexually assaulting the 10-year-old girl and her four-year-old sister since May this year.
“The incident came to light recently, following which the victims’ family approached the police and lodged a complaint,” a police officer said.
He said the accused had threatened the girls against disclosing the incident by threatening them with a knife.
