Etawah, Aug 31 (PTI) Lioness Radhika, who had been undergoing treatment for several days at Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah Safari Park here, died on Monday morning, officials said.
Safari Park Director Anil Kumar Patel said Radhika died on the 42nd day of her treatment despite continuous monitoring and treatment by wildlife experts and park veterinarians.
Radhika’s tail was injured on July 9 during a fight with another lioness. Anticipating a possible infection in the wound during treatment, the park authorities sought the opinion of wildlife specialists.
On their advice, the injured portion of Radhika’s tail was surgically removed, Patel said. Despite continuous treatment and monitoring, her health kept deteriorating.
She was surviving only on small quantities of water and chicken soup and was unable to consume a full diet, which gradually weakened her condition, he said.
Radhika died on Monday morning while undergoing treatment, Patel said, adding that the safari administration and veterinary team had been examining and treating her regularly. PTI COR ABN APL APL
