Bengaluru, Jul 28 (PTI) Lancaster University, one of the United Kingdom’s leading public universities and a member of the prestigious Russell Group, is set to establish its Bengaluru campus, Karnataka Minister M B Patil said on Tuesday.
At a later stage, the university is expected to establish its campus at the proposed Knowledge, Wellbeing and Innovation (KWIN) City near Bengaluru, he said.
Patil made the announcement after holding discussions with a high-level delegation led by Mark Stevenson, Cross-Faculty Associate Dean for Global Engagement at Lancaster University, which called on him in Bengaluru, according to a release issued by his office.
The state minister for Large and Medium Industries said Lancaster University is ranked 164th in the QS World University Rankings 2027 and has been awarded an overall five-star QS rating.
The university is setting up its Bengaluru campus under the University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulations governing the entry and operation of foreign universities in India, Patil said.
The Bengaluru campus will initially offer programmes in business, management and computing, with the same curriculum and academic standards followed at Lancaster University’s UK campus.
Patil said the initiative would provide Indian students with greater access to high-quality international education, strengthen industry-academia collaboration, and further reinforce Bengaluru’s emergence as a global hub for higher education. PTI KSU SSK
