Zanskar/Jammu, May 6 (PTI) Deputy Inspector General of Police (Ladakh Range) Koshal Sharma on Wednesday undertook his maiden visit to the newly created Zanskar district, marking a step towards strengthening policing and administrative coordination following its recent elevation.

During the visit, Sharma reviewed arrangements for the upcoming display of holy relics scheduled for May 11 and 12, assessing preparedness in terms of security deployment, crowd management, and inter-departmental coordination to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the event, officials said.

Superintendent of Police Zanskar Rigzin Sangdup and SHO Inspector Tsewang Nurboo accompanied the DIG.

He also evaluated the overall functioning, infrastructure, and operational requirements of the district police, emphasising the need to further strengthen policing capabilities in the newly established district, they said.

As part of his visit, Sharma chaired an interaction meeting with members of civil society, which focused on public safety, community cooperation, and effective policing, they said.

Participants raised concerns and offered suggestions, to which the DIG assured proactive measures and continued engagement to address local issues.

The visit underscores the commitment of Ladakh Police to ensuring robust law enforcement, community partnership, and seamless management of major religious events in Zanskar, they said. PTI AB RHL
