Beed, May 6 (PTI) A 26-year-old daily wage labourer died after suffering an electric shock while filling water in an air cooler in a village in Beed district of central Maharashtra, police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place in Ghatnandur village under Ambajogai tehsil on Tuesday at 8.30 am and the deceased was identified as Syed Nazir Quadeer, who was the sole earning member of his family, they said.
Quadeer, who worked as a daily wage labourer, was preparing to leave for work when he began pouring water into a running iron air cooler at his home amid rising summer temperatures. During the process, an electric current passed through the cooler, causing a severe electric shock that led to his collapse, police said.
Family members immediately rushed Quadeer to a nearby Primary Health Centre. Considering his critical condition, doctors referred him to the Swami Ramanand Teerth Government Rural Medical College and Hospital at Ambajogai town, where he was declared dead on arrival, they said.
