Nashik, Jul 28 (PTI) Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Tuesday praised the planning by the district administration and authorities for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
He said the planning and scale of the event will establish the identity of Nashik and Trimbakeshwar globally.
The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela runs from October 31, 2026, to July 24, 2028.
The Shahi/Amrit Snan is scheduled for August 2, August 31, and September 11–12 next year.
The governor reviewed the planning for the mega religious congregation at the Nashik Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority headquarters here in the presence of senior officers.
“The Kumbh Mela planning will make the upcoming event memorable and magnificent, and it will establish the global identity of Nashik-Trimbakeshwar. A distinct identity will be created for Nashik in sectors of industry, tourism, culture, etc. Considering the grandeur of the ceremony, better planning will be possible through technology,” he said.
The governor said specific attention should be paid to hygiene and health.
“The Kumbh Mela will be grand and divine considering the large number of devotees at the religious places across the country. Although extensive planning has been done so far, the authority should prepare more considering the experience of Prayagraj,” he said, referring to the planned development works at Trimbakeshwar.
He said various tasks, including infrastructure facilities which will cater to millions of devotees, should be completed on time.
“The duration of the upcoming Kumbh Mela is long. So the number of devotees will be more than usual. Careful planning is necessary to provide convenience to such a large number of devotees. The quality of infrastructure should be maintained while completing the works on time.
“Along with this, the work has to be expedited. Considering the importance of Trimbakeshwar, long-term works should be done. Artificial Intelligence (AI) should also be used as needed,” he added.
Nashik Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority chairman Praveen Gedam, Nashik Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, special IGP Sanjay Ainapure, Commissioner of Kumbh Authority Shekhar Singh, and chief officers of various departments were present. PTI COR NSK
