Wayanad (Keralam), Sep 13 (PTI) Police have launched a detailed probe after a 20-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a relative’s house in Periya here, officials said on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Aleena, daughter of Chala and a resident of Monichankunnu tribal hamlet in Periya.
Aleena was found dead at a relative’s house in Kavungal tribal colony in Periya on September 11 morning, police said.
Police said the relatives, in their statements, had not raised any suspicion regarding the death.
It was neighbours who alleged that black magic had been performed on the woman, police said.
According to police, Aleena had reached the relative’s house only three days before her death and was seen behaving normally on September 10.
Officials at the Thalappuzha police station said the body was handed over to relatives after postmortem, but the report has not yet been received to ascertain the cause of death.
Police said that currently the case has been registered for unnatural death.
Considering the allegations raised by the neighbours, police are conducting a detailed probe and have also sent samples collected from the body for chemical analysis, officials said. PTI COR TBA TBA KH
