Kozhikode (Keralam), Sep 13 (PTI) Two persons were arrested from Noida in connection with a drug seizure case in Patheerankavu here, police said on Sunday.
The arrested were identified as Ajmal, a native of Nilambur in Malappuram, and Surya, a native of Thiruvananthapuram.
Police said Ajmal is allegedly a major drug supplier who procured MDMA and methamphetamine in large quantities from Delhi and supplied them to Keralam through hired carriers and drug peddlers.
Surya, a nursing student in Bengaluru, was living with Ajmal at a rented apartment in Noida, police said.
The arrests followed the seizure of one kg of MDMA within the limits of the Patheerankavu police station, which had led to the arrest of four persons.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the drugs had been supplied by Ajmal from Delhi, police said.
A police team from Kozhikode raided Ajmal’s apartment in Noida on Saturday and arrested him and Surya.
Several packets and machines allegedly used for packing drugs were recovered from the apartment, officials said.
The two were brought to Kozhikode on Sunday.
The investigation also revealed that Ajmal was allegedly involved in the recent seizure of more than 12 kg of MDMA in Malappuram district, police said.
