Bengaluru, Oct 14 (PTI) Karnataka will work towards developing a structured framework to facilitate collaboration between Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and government departments on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Minister Priyank Kharge said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the GCC CSR Leadership Forum organised by SoulAce at The Oberoi here, the Minister, who holds the Home, information technology and Biotechnology portfolios, said the framework would help companies identify relevant government departments, navigate procedures and secure approvals for CSR projects.

“GCCs have the willingness and resources to contribute to Karnataka’s development. We will work on a more structured approach to connect their CSR priorities with the needs of the state and facilitate collaboration with the relevant government departments,” Kharge said, according to a press release.

“This will help turn corporate intent into meaningful initiatives with measurable impact on the ground,” he added.

The Minister encouraged GCCs to identify the areas and communities they wished to support, enabling the government to facilitate focused partnerships aligned with Karnataka’s development priorities.

He highlighted opportunities for collaboration in education, skilling, livelihoods, water management, sustainability, nutrition and community development. He also urged companies to explore solutions developed by startups and industry that could be piloted and scaled up if successful.

Citing examples of initiatives connecting corporate resources with community needs, the press release said around 1,000 refurbished computers had been redistributed to grassroots offices and hostels, while an eye-testing initiative had reached more than 2 lakh people.

Kharge also highlighted opportunities for corporate participation in water conservation, energy efficiency, renewable energy and urban wastewater management. He emphasised responsible technology adoption, including safeguards for data privacy and cybersecurity, and pointed to opportunities in public infrastructure, education, and arts and culture.

The forum also saw the launch of SoulAce’s report, State of CSR in India’s GCCs 2025-26, which examines CSR priorities and practices among GCCs in the country.

The proposed framework aims to promote coordinated, outcome-oriented partnerships between GCCs and the government, enabling corporate resources and expertise to contribute to sustainable and inclusive development across Karnataka, the release said. PTI GMS

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
