Bantwal (Karnataka), Oct 26 (PTI) A nine-year-old boy died after a rope accidentally became entangled around his neck while he was playing at his house here, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred near Kukkipadi on Sunday, they said.
According to a complaint lodged by Jayananda (42), a resident of Kukkipadi, his brother Ananda Poojari lives nearby with his wife and children. On October 25, Jayananda heard screams from his brother’s house and rushed there.
He found that his nephew, who was playing inside the house, had a rope attached to the window accidentally looped around his neck. The child had become unresponsive due to suffocation.
Family members administered first aid and immediately shifted the boy to a hospital, where doctors examined him and declared him brought dead.
Punjalakatte police have registered a case of unnatural death report under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023 and are investigating the incident. PTI COR AMP ROH
