Lucknow: An MCA student was abducted, assaulted, fired upon, made to lick shoes and urinated upon in Kanpur on Monday allegedly by the son of an Uttar Pradesh Police head constable and his associates, in what appears to be a case of settling personal scores.

The head constable’s son along with eight others allegedly lured the 23-year-old student, Ayush Dwivedi, by getting a girl to befriend him. She later messaged him to meet her near Kanpur’s Landmark hotel on Monday from where he and his friend were bundled into an SUV.

Head constable Dharmendra Yadav, who was with the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU), and three others were arrested, but the main accused and Dharmendra’s son Himanshu alias Sunny remains at large.

A local police officer told ThePrint that Ayush had allegedly assaulted Himanshu three months ago, leading to loss of hearing in one of his ears.

Based on the complaint of Ayush, the Kalyanpur police lodged an FIR against nine accused, including two unnamed persons, under Section 147 (rioting), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 364 (kidnapping for murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 377 (unnatural offences) of the IPC.

According to the FIR, the girl, Divyanshi Pandey, contacted Ayush on Instagram urging him to meet her in the Kalyanpur area.

“When I reached the spot along with my friend Abhishek Singh, an Innova was already there in which Himanshu, Rajat, Mohit, Shubham Sonkar, Nandu Dubey, Rishabh Chauhan, Ayush Mishra along with two other persons were present. They took me at gunpoint and shoved me and Abhishek inside the Innova. They beat us badly and stopped near the Cooperganj railway crossing where one of them fired upon me. The bullet grazed past my ear,” Ayush mentioned in the FIR seen by ThePrint.

Ayush alleged that the accused took turns to urinate in his mouth.

“They then pushed us again into the vehicle and took us to the Kesha chauraha. Himanshu was continuously in touch with his father who had full involvement in the incident. When Dharmendra reached the spot, he too beat us. He spat on his shoe and made me lick it. He videographed me before I fell unconscious,” he wrote.

Later, Abhishek told the media that two in the group were armed with country-made pistols.

“Himanshu, Mohit and others took us to a jungle area where Ayush was repeatedly whipped with a rubber pipe till he fell unconscious. They urinated in his mouth. He was not given water when the car was on the move. Later, he was stripped and made to sit on the roadside before being repeatedly hit on his buttock. When he was unable to hear anything, they hit him on the ear,” he recalled.

Abhishek said his tormentors shoved a thin stick in his ear and when he tried to resist, they took him at gunpoint.

“When Ayush said that he would die and he had parents at home, one of them fired another bullet. On requesting to stop it, one of them urinated on my chest. They were forcefully inserting their private parts into Ayush’s mouth. When I objected, I was repeatedly beaten up on the leg with sticks,” he said.

Abhishek alleged that the accused were continuously in touch with the head constable over the phone.

“Ayush fell unconscious after continuous beating. Later, he was made to sit in the car with our eyes blindfolded, and we were brought near Kesha chauraha where Ayush was handed over to Dharmendra. They made a video of mine before returning my phone and keys. After making the video, they took Rs 1,200 from Ayush’s possession…,” he said.

“When I repeatedly pleaded that I had no involvement, they let me go. They returned the keys of my bike and handed me Rs 70.”

‘Ayush meted similar treatment with accused’

Kalyanpur circle officer Abhishek Pandey told ThePrint that Ayush, too, has criminal antecedents and faces a case of attempt to murder.

Another Kanpur police officer said that about three months ago, Dharmendra Yadav had got a gangster, Jamuna Thakur, arrested which angered his associates.

“On 5 October, Ayush, Anuj Tiwari, Bunty Tiwari, Shantanu Yadav, Chotu Bhadauria and others had beaten up Himanshu and one of them ran a bike over him, leading to serious injuries. Himanshu lost hearing in one of his ears. This angered the head constable who plotted to avenge his son,” the officer said.

Subsequently, an FIR was lodged against Ayush, Anuj Tiwari, Bunty Tiwari, Shantanu Yadav, Chotu Bhadauria and others under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC following a complaint from Himanshu’s mother.

“Ayush went absconding for three months. He was wanted in that case. Now, Himanshu and his friends plotted to take revenge and called Ayush using a woman and subjected him to inhumane treatment,” the officer told ThePrint.

‘Two sides involved in dispute’

In a video statement Tuesday, Joint Commissioner (Crime) Nilabja Chaudhary said that the two sides were caught in a dispute.

“Some youth called the victims and abducted them after which they thrashed them and resorted to inhumane treatment. Two people were arrested and the third, a head constable whose involvement has come to fore, is also being arrested. He was suspended and will face a departmental probe. His son is absconding but a search is on. Strict action will be taken against people involved in such crime,” he said.

Kanpur Commissioner Akhil Kumar told mediapersons Tuesday that Himanshu Yadav, son of an LIU head constable, had the main role in the episode.

“An FIR has been lodged against him immediately under grave sections under IPC and three were arrested. His (head constable) role has come to fore and if proven, legal proceedings will be initiated. Hooliganism by anyone, irrespective of their background, will not be tolerated. Proceedings of the Goondas Act will be initiated against him,” he said.

On Wednesday, a fourth person, identified as Bassaf, was arrested in connection with the Monday incident.
