New Delhi: Indians have been locked up inside their homes and restaurants are closed too. Social media sites and streaming platforms are among the few entertainment options available to many. To kill boredom, Twitter users have started a game of comparing food items with celebrities — the recent on the list being pop star Rihanna.

Earlier this week, Twitter user named Deepraj first shared a thread comparing Rihanna’s photos with an Indian food item, which struck a chord with many others.

From kaju katli, vadapao to even chai, here are some of the food items that Rihanna is being compared to.

People on the micro-blogging site have lauded Deepraj’s efforts, commending it as “great use of the lockdown”.

Some have also expressed concern, saying it objectifies a woman’s body.

Deepraj, however, clarified that the thread was meant to compare Rihanna’s outfits, not her body.

The trend soon went on to compare some other actors. The Spider Man: Homecoming fame Zendaya’s looks were compared to Indian sweets rasmalai and jalebi.

American actress Natasha Lyonne was also compared to the different flavours of ‘pringles’. The actor had sarcastically responded to this trend, saying that it was a scam thread.

  1. This article is exactly the reason I stopped visiting ndtv.com. Celebrity-tweet news. Seems theprint.com going the same way. Any day paywalled no-nonsense news portal better than this.
