Ranchi, Sep 28 (PTI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday said his government is working with commitment to provide better opportunities to the youth within the state through the expansion of modern technologies, and to develop Ranchi into a major IT centre in the country.
Soren said this after a meeting with a leading Bengaluru-based real estate developer specialising in commercial spaces and digital infrastructure.
“The government is working towards developing a strong and modern IT and technology ecosystem by connecting Jharkhand with future technologies and new industrial possibilities. To make Ranchi a major centre of IT, innovation and emerging technologies, we need to move forward together with the industry,” Soren said.
He added that creating employment and high-skill-based opportunities for local youth, along with attracting investment in the state, is one of the priorities of his government.
Jharkhand will be prepared in line with the new economy by connecting the state’s talented human resources, natural resources and development possibilities with modern technology, the CM said.
During the meeting with RMZ Infra President Deepak Chhabria, discussions were held on developing a state-of-the-art IT Park in Jharkhand, establishing a Global Capability Centre (GCC), and promoting technological and industrial investment, officials said in a statement.
Under the proposed plan, work will begin on starting an IT Park in Ranchi by 2029. In its first phase, the target is to create about 20,000 employment opportunities and increase capacity to provide about 75,000 employment opportunities in the next three years, they said.
For this ambitious project, about 100 acres of land near IIM Ranchi, the new Assembly complex and the high court complex are being considered as a potential site.
The proposed IT Park envisages developing modern offices and digital infrastructure along with facilities required for global-level technology companies and institutions.
The meeting also emphasised special discussion on the possibilities of establishing a Global Capability Centre (GCC). Through GCC, IT and AI services, digital technology, semiconductor, manufacturing, nuclear energy and other high-skill work for global companies can be operated from Jharkhand, the statement said.
“On the chief minister’s instructions, a delegation from the Department of Information Technology and e-Governance is likely to visit Bengaluru in October,” it said.
The delegation will study the IT Park, technology ecosystem and Global Capability Centre model developed there and observe IT infrastructure, investment systems, and facilities available for industries.
The study will help prepare the action plan for the development of the IT Park and related technology ecosystem in the state.
