JK EOW books four in cheating case

Srinagar, Jul 23 (PTI) The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch has booked four people in a cheating case, officials said on Thursday.

The EOW has filed a chargesheet in FIR No. 55/2022 under sections 420, 120-B, 201 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) before the court of Sub Judge (Small Causes) here against the four accused, an official said.

He identified the accused as Arshid Ahmad Shora alias Bilal, Firdous Ahmad Bhat, Firdous Ahmad Mir and Aftab Ahmad Shah, all from Srinagar.

According to the complaint lodged in the case, the accused, led by Shora, induced the complainant to supply shawls worth over Rs 2.50 crore by promising great returns, but failed to make the payment, the official said.

During the investigation, 338 shawls valued at around Rs 68 lakh were recovered and handed over to the complainant on court directions. The investigation in the case has been completed, he said. PTI SSB DIV DIV
