Garhwa, May 2 (PTI) A man on Saturday climbed atop a mobile tower in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district and threatened to jump to his death over a failed love affair, police said.

The incident took place at Khapro village within Ranka police station limits.

“Asadullah Ansari (20) climbed atop the 145-foot mobile tower around 8 am and threatened that he would end his life if his marriage was not fixed with the woman he loved. He was rescued 8 hours later, around 5 pm, after his relatives counselled him,” Ranka police station in-charge Ravi Keshri said.

According to police, he had been in a relationship with a 19-year-old woman from a neighbouring village and wanted to marry her. However, their relationship ended when the woman’s father arranged her marriage elsewhere, Keshri said. PTI COR RPS RPS MNB
