Ranchi, Jul 14 (PTI) The Jharkhand Police seized illicit liquor and narcotics worth more than Rs 1.3 crore and arrested seven persons during separate operations in two districts, officials said on Tuesday.
In Hazaribag, a truck carrying illegal foreign liquor worth over Rs 1 crore was impounded, and three persons were apprehended near the Rasoiya Dhamna toll plaza on Monday, a senior police officer said.
The liquor was being transported from Punjab to Bihar, Barhi SDPO Radha Prem Kishore told PTI.
“A total of 1,190 cases, each containing 48 glass bottles of foreign liquor, were recovered from the truck,” he said.
In Ranchi, four suspected drug peddlers were arrested with 159 gm of brown sugar worth around Rs 31.80 lakh and Rs 58,100 in cash, another officer said.
The accused were nabbed during raids in Dhobi Khori area on Monday.
“We recovered a total of 1,444 pouches of brown sugar, besides the cash and three mobile phones, from their possession,” Ranchi (City) SP Paras Rana said.
