Jharkhand Guv pays tributes to Syama Prasad Mookerjee on death anniversary

Ranchi, Jun 23 (PTI) Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Tuesday paid tributes to Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his death anniversary, and said the Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder’s thoughts and ideals will continue to inspire people to serve the nation.

Mookerjee died under mysterious circumstances on this day in 1953 in a Srinagar jail, after being arrested for entering Jammu and Kashmir without a permit.

“His dedication and contribution to the integrity and sovereignty of the nation will always remain memorable. His thoughts and ideals will continue to inspire everyone for service to the nation,” Gangwar said in a post on X.

Several state BJP leaders also offered floral tributes at the statue and portrait of Mookerjee at the party headquarters in Ranchi.

Jharkhand BJP chief Aditya Sahu said Mookerjee dedicated his entire life to safeguarding India’s unity and integrity.

In a post on X, Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi said: “His dedication to the unity and integrity of the nation and to public service will always remain a source of inspiration for all.” PTI SAN RBT
