Ranchi, May 26 (PTI) Senior BJP leader Babulal Marandi on Tuesday accused the JMM-led coalition government in Jharkhand of widespread corruption, alleging that it had stalled development work in the state.

Marandi, who is also the leader of the opposition in the Assembly, alleged that governance in the state had collapsed under the Hemant Soren government.

“In the last six years, every system has collapsed. Law and order has completely broken down, and all development work has come to a standstill due to unchecked corruption,” Marandi alleged at a press conference at the BJP state headquarters here.

The senior BJP leader claimed irregularities have been detected in the audit of the health department.

He alleged that 206 ambulances were purchased in June 2022 at Rs 55.58 crore without proper usability assessment and were left unused in Namkum for over a year.

He further claimed that a fresh tender had now been issued in 2026 for the procurement of 237 customised ambulances at an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore.

Alleging a scam in the health department, the former Jharkhand BJP president demanded a CBI probe into issues including expired medicines, ambulance procurement and extension of consultant services allegedly in violation of departmental norms. PTI SAN SAN MNB
