Patna, Sep 26 (PTI) The Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraaj Party on Monday replaced its candidate for the Darbhanga Graduates’ constituency in the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council elections, naming Mohammad Imtiyaz (Noorani) as its new nominee.
The party had earlier fielded nominee Ravindra Yadav for the seat.
The party had earlier changed its candidate for the Tirhut Teachers’ constituency as well, announcing Shyam Nandan Yadav as its new nominee.
The JSP is contesting all eight Legislative Council seats — four Graduates’ and four Teachers’ constituencies — that are going to polls on October 23.
The terms of the sitting members of these constituencies expire on November 16, 2026.
The notification for the elections will be issued on September 29, while the last date for filing nominations is October 6. Scrutiny will be held on October 7, and candidates can withdraw their nominations till October 9.
Polling will be held from 8 am to 4 pm on October 23, with counting scheduled for October 27.
For the Graduates’ constituencies, graduates who have held a degree from a recognised university in India for at least three years and are ordinarily residing in the concerned constituency are eligible to vote, subject to registration on the electoral roll prepared for the purpose.
For the Teachers’ constituencies, teachers with at least three years of teaching experience in eligible educational institutions, including secondary schools, colleges and universities, can vote after registering on the respective electoral roll. PTI PKD SOM
