New Delhi, Sep 24 (PTI) The Vishva Hindu Parishad on Thursday hit out at Mahmood Madani-led Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind over his remarks on the alleged targeting of Muslims and administrative patronage of such actions, alleging that his comments amount to a “direct threat” to India’s sovereignty in collusion with foreign powers.
The reaction came a day after the Jamiat’s working committee expressed concern over an “administratively partisan approach” in various states relating to civil and religious rights, mob lynching, bulldozer actions and the demolition of mosques and madrasas.
Madani said unilateral action against a particular community with “administrative patronage” is a matter of serious concern and alleged that people are beginning to feel that the judicial system is not providing effective legal protection and timely redress.
On taking the issue to international forums, Madani said India has many friends globally and that these friends will be taken along to ensure that the country does not “deviate from its path”.
VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal claimed that Madani’s remarks about approaching international forums amount to a threat to India’s sovereignty.
“If a person or his radical faction has lost faith in India’s Constitution, government, administration and even the judiciary, then why is he still staying here?” Bansal said.
He claimed that the structures demolished by authorities are illegal constructions built in violation of laws and said describing them as mosques, madrasas and places of worship amounts to protecting both the alleged wrongdoing and those responsible for it.
“India has now changed. Such provocative mindsets of maulanas will also have to change,” he said.
Bansal accused Madani and others of getting provoked over “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram” and alleged that they openly advocate for terrorists in Indian courts.
Bansal also urged the Muslim community to distance itself from “provocative and anti-national clerics” at the earliest.
