New Delhi, Sep 17 (PTI) The Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation under the Jal Shakti Ministry on Thursday launched the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign-2026, which will be observed from September 17 to October 2.
As part of the campaign, Secretary Archana Varma administered the swachhta pledge to officers and staff of the department at Shram Shakti Bhawan here.
The campaign aims to promote cleanliness and encourage public participation in building a cleaner India.
Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil on Wednesday said the campaign has evolved from a government programme into a people’s movement, with increasing citizen participation in cleanliness initiatives across the country.
Addressing a press conference ahead of the launch, Patil said the campaign would begin across the country on September 17 with the theme ‘Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat’.
Observed annually since 2017, Swachhata Hi Seva seeks to mobilise citizen action and ownership for swachhata, adopting a ‘whole of government’ and ‘whole of society’ approach, with a focus on shared responsibility, sustained cleanliness and participation across rural and urban India.
