Jaipur, Jul 10 (PTI) A Jaipur-based prosthetics organisation famous for the iconic Jaipur Foot has signed agreements with the Uttar Pradesh government and a Lucknow-based university to strengthen cooperation in disability rehabilitation, research and skill development, officials said on Friday.
Under the MoU signed with the Uttar Pradesh government’s Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, the Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) will collaborate through the Rajya Anusandhan Kendra to promote academic and research cooperation in areas of mutual interest, a BMVSS release said.
Signed on Wednesday, the agreement envisages joint research and development of technologies and solutions for persons with disabilities, apart from organising assessment and distribution camps for artificial limbs and assistive devices across various districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The BMVSS will also assist the Uttar Pradesh government in creating awareness about disability rehabilitation through outreach campaigns and rehabilitation services.
The organisation will support disability-focused innovations, assistive technology development, capacity and faculty building, knowledge sharing and other collaborative initiatives.
The MoU was signed by BMVSS Secretary (Technical) Deependra Mehta and Rajesh Kumar Singh on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government.
Separately, the BMVSS signed an agreement with Dr Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow, for collaboration in academics, research, innovation, capacity building, skill development and livelihood support for persons with disabilities.
The partnership will include joint academic programmes, collaborative research, training workshops, development of assistive technologies, internship opportunities, field engagements and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
