Bilaspur (HP), Oct 19 (PTI) Union Health Minister J P Nadda visited the Baba Nahar Singh Temple in Dhaulra to offer prayers and seek blessings and also attended the ‘Shardotsav’ (autumn festival) in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh.

Nadda arrived in Bilaspur on Sunday for a three-day visit and met with party workers and locals at the Circuit House.

He attended the ‘Shardotsav’ and took part in the ‘aarti’ of Goddess Durga. Nadda has been associated with this festival for nearly 25 years. Initiated through the efforts of his wife, Mallika Nadda, the event has now become a defining religious and cultural landmark for Bilaspur.

Earlier, he visited the Baba Nahar Singh Temple with his family to offer prayers.

Following his visit to the temple, he participated in the ‘Shardotsav,’ where other devotees also joined in the ‘aarti’. Every year, a large number of devotees attend the ‘Shardotsav’ to seek the blessings of Goddess Durga and offer their prayers.

The ‘Shardotsav’, which began about 25 years ago on the initiative of Mallika Nadda, is now one of the city’s prominent religious events. The immersion procession (‘Visarjan Yatra’) serves as a major highlight of the festival.

According to Swadesh Thakur, the state co-media in-charge for the BJP, Nadda participates in the ‘Shardotsav’ every year.

His involvement in the Durga immersion procession has also become a signature feature of the event. The festival draws not only local residents but also devotees from far and wide.

According to the scheduled itinerary, Nadda will take part in the Durga immersion procession on Tuesday. In the evening at 6 pm, he will depart from Vijaypur for Chandigarh, from where he will travel to Delhi by flight. His three-day visit is primarily centred around the ‘Shardotsav’. PTI COR BPL SKY

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
