Srinagar, Jul 30 (PTI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has sanctioned Rs 41 lakh to the 2016 unrest pellet victim Insha Mushtaq to make her LPG distributorship operational, minister Satish Sharma said on Thursday.

Sharma, the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, said justice was delayed but not denied.

“Justice delayed but not denied. Insha Mushtaq lost her eyesight to pellets in 2016; her LPG distributorship was sanctioned in 2018 but left incomplete.

“Under HCM @OmarAbdullah, we’ve approved release of the Rs 41.16 lakh balance to finally take this case to its logical conclusion,” the minister said in a post on X.

Insha, a resident of Shopian district in south Kashmir, lost her eyesight after she suffered pellet gun injuries during the unrest in the Valley in the aftermath of the killing of then Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in 2016. PTI SSB KSS KSS

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
