New Delhi: India, in its capacity as the world’s largest consumer and second-largest producer of sugar, is hosting a global event to discuss the sugar and biofuel sector. The ISO Council Meeting, 2024, is to be held in New Delhi from June 25-27, 2024.
Delegates from more than 30 countries along with representatives of various international organisations are participating in the meeting. The main objective of the ISO Council Meeting, 2024, is to discuss the future perspective of the global sugar sector, biofuels, sustainability, and the role of farmers, according to a statement by the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
The ISO Council Meeting, 2024, will also provide an opportunity to strengthen the Global Biofuel Alliance, an initiative of Prime Minister Narender Modi, for promoting the development and sustainable adoption of biofuels worldwide. Biofuels are expected to play a key role in reducing India’s carbon footprint and achieving its goal of energy security.
The programme also includes a cultural programme to showcase India’s rich culture to the delegates.
