Kurukshetra, Jun 20 (PTI) An International Gita Seminar was held at the University of Tokyo, strengthening cultural and spiritual ties between India and Japan, the government said on Saturday.
The seminar was attended by scholars, academicians and dignitaries from both countries, and conducted with the support of members of the Kurukshetra Development Board and the Gita Jayanti Mela Authority, it said.
The seminar focused on the relevance of the Bhagavad Gita in modern times and its message of peace, harmony, duty and universal welfare.
Officials said the event was not merely an academic exercise but a symbol of growing friendship and mutual understanding between India and Japan.
Haryana chief minister’s media advisor Tushar Saini, MLA Satpal Jamba, former vice-chancellor Dr Markandeya, and mayors Renu Bala Gupta and Shyam Lal Bansal were among those who attended the seminar in the Japanese capital.
