Indian Coast Guard rescues ill fisherman near Kerala

The man was on board an Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Jazeera, which is about 40 nautical miles off Beypore, Kerala. The boat experienced a medical distress call after the man fell into the sea.

New Delhi: Indian Coast Guard (ICG) rescued a critically-ill fisherman, who had fallen into the sea and was experiencing a near-drowning incident, from Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Jazeera, about 40 nautical miles off Beypore, Kerala, a PIB press release stated.

The incident happened on May 7, 2024. The man was on board an Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Jazeera, which is about 40 nautical miles off Beypore, Kerala. The boat experienced a medical distress call after the man fell into the sea.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) responded to the distress call and sent an Advanced Light Helicopter with a medical team from Kochi. Along with this, two other ships – Aryaman & C-404 – were also deployed. The ICG found the IFB and the man was airlifted to Kochi. He was later shifted to a nearby hospital. It is being said that this is the result of the swift and prompt coordination of the ICG.
