India has set up a pavilion at the World Hydrogen Summit 2024 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, for the first time, a statement by the Union Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) said.
Nearly 15,000 delegates from different countries will attend the summit from 13 to 15 May. The India pavilion, one of the largest at the summit, will showcase the country’s progress in the green hydrogen field. MNRE Secretary Bhupinder S. Bhalla inaugurated the pavilion on 12 May.
India has set a target to achieve a green hydrogen production capacity of 5 million metric tonnes by the end of 2030, according to the MNRE. The ministry claimed to have awarded tenders for setting up 412,000 tonnes of green hydrogen production capacity and 1,500 megawatts of electrolyser manufacturing capacity.
The science and technology department is promoting the green hydrogen ecosystem too, initiating clusters to foster innovation. The MNRE has also notified guidelines for using green hydrogen in the steel, transport, and mobility sectors.
The MNRE has also started a portal, https://nghm.mnre.gov.in/, dedicated to the green hydrogen mission in India to provide one-stop information.
