New Delhi, Jun 2 (PTI) India and Myanmar on Tuesday held a bilateral meeting on drug control cooperation here, reaffirming their shared commitment to fight against transnational drug trafficking.
This was the 8th such meeting between the two sides, an official statement said.
The Indian delegation was led by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) chief Anurag Garg while the Myanmar team was headed by Police Brigadier General and Joint Secretary of Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) Thant Lwin Maung.
The NCB said the day-long meeting reviewed the evolving drug trafficking scenario in the region and discussed enhanced cooperation in intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, precursor chemical control, tackling synthetic drugs, darknet-enabled trafficking, illicit opium cultivation and capacity building.
“The discussions reaffirmed the shared commitment of India and Myanmar to strengthen bilateral cooperation against transnational drug trafficking and organized crime,” it said in the statement.
