Shimla, Aug 3 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said the state government is according top priority to construction and improvement of roads in Chamba district.
Presiding over the concluding cultural event at the international Minjar Fair in Chamba on Sunday evening, the chief minister asserted that an estimated Rs 591 crore had been spent on construction and expansion of roads in the district.
Notably, flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Himachal’s Chamba district last week, damaging more than 25 residential houses and commercial establishments and burying several vehicles under debris.
Addressing the event, Sukhu said the state government is committed to ensuring all-round development of every region of Chamba district.
He said the state government had established the Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College in Chamba to ensure that residents do not need to travel outside for specialised healthcare services.
“Special emphasis has been laid on providing modern medical infrastructure and latest healthcare technology in the medical college. A 200-bed hospital building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 158 crore, which will significantly enhance patient care while providing improved working and learning facilities for doctors, nursing staff, medical students and other healthcare professionals,” he said.
On the occasion, the chief minister distributed prizes to winners of various competitions organised during the Minjar Fair and also launched a souvenir conceptualised by the district administration.
