Mumbai, Jul 22 (PTI) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for parts of Konkan and ghat areas of western Maharashtra, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on Tuesday.
The orange alert has been issued for Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts, and ghat areas of Satara and Kolhapur, the IMD said.
The department also issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Palghar, Thane and several other districts, and the ghat areas of Nashik and Pune.
Local authorities have been asked to remain vigilant for flooding and traffic disruptions.
Meanwhile, Mumbai witnessed intermittent spells of intense rainfall during the day.
According to civic officials, the IMD has forecast “cloudy sky with possibility of moderate to heavy rain at isolated places” in the city and suburbs of Mumbai.
The island city, eastern and western suburbs of Mumbai have received an average rainfall of 65.69 mm, 48.87 mm, and 61.90 mm, respectively, in 24 hours ending at 8 am, civic officials said. PTI KK ARU
