Giridih, Jul 10 (PTI) A team of police and civil administration conducted a raid on Friday at an illegal stone quarry operating in Jharkhand’s Giridih district and arrested three persons, an official said.
Sariya Block Development Officer (BDO) Santosh Gupta, who led the raid, said upon reaching the Balhedih forest with a heavy police force, the team surrounded the quarry and immediately halted excavation activities.
“Preliminary information indicates that the illegal quarry was being operated by Tajuddin Ansari, Naresh Paswan, and Suresh Nayak. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into their role, and other individuals linked to the entire syndicate are being identified,” the official said.
Nearly 123 gelatin sticks, a JCB machine and several tractors used in the illegal mining operation were also confiscated, he added. PTI CORR ANB RG
