Bareilly, Oct 13 (PTI) The Indian Air Force’s Sarang helicopter display team on Tuesday conducted practice sessions and coordination exercises in Bareilly ahead of its scheduled aerial performances on October 15 and 17, an official said.

The rehearsals involved preparations for the team’s synchronised aerial sequences and close-formation manoeuvres, which require precise coordination among pilots, disciplined flying and extensive practice, the official said.

The team flies five indigenously designed and manufactured Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv helicopters, performing intricate manoeuvres that showcase the flying skills of IAF pilots and the capabilities of India’s indigenous aerospace industry.

The upcoming displays will mark Sarang’s return to Bareilly after eight years. Students from schools and colleges, along with invited members of the civil community, are expected to witness the performances.

The team recently represented the IAF at the second edition of the El Alamein International Airshow, held at El Alamein International Airport in Egypt from September 8 to 10, highlighting India’s growing international aviation engagement and defence ties with Egypt.

Established in 2003, Sarang is known for its distinctive, colourful helicopters and demanding aerial routines. Its name is derived from the Sanskrit word for peacock, an identity reflected in the aircraft’s vibrant colour scheme.

The Bareilly displays are also expected to familiarise young people with military aviation and encourage interest in science, technology and careers in the armed forces, officials said.

The performances will demonstrate the importance of precision, teamwork and sustained training in executing complex aerial manoeuvres, while highlighting the operational capabilities of the IAF and India’s indigenous helicopter technology. PTI KIS

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
