Dehradun, Jul 2 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday said that he has no information regarding the speculation about holding early Assembly elections.
Responding to a question from reporters here, Dhami said, “I have no knowledge of any such matter.” His statement has, for the time being, put an end to the speculation that had been circulating in political circles in recent days.
The chief minister said that his government’s focus is not on election-related discussions but on the state’s development and public welfare.
He added that the state government is continuously working towards the effective implementation of various public welfare schemes, strengthening infrastructure, and ensuring the overall development of the state.
For some time now, there has been intense speculation in state politics about holding Assembly elections ahead of schedule. Opposition parties and some political analysts have suggested that the ruling party might consider holding elections earlier than scheduled.
However, neither the Election Commission nor any other competent authority has made an official announcement regarding this.
The state Assembly elections are likely to be held early next year. APL APL
