Hamirpur (HP), Sep 2 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta interacted with ex-servicemen in Hamirpur and promised to take up issues concerning their welfare with the state government, according to a statement issued on Wednesday.
Sainik Welfare Department director Brigadier Madan Sheel Sharma apprised the governor of various issues faced by ex-servicemen and their families. During the meeting on Tuesday, he also informed the governor about the pending construction of the Shaheedi Smarak in Hamirpur.
The governor assured the ex-servicemen that he would take up their genuine concerns with the state government for appropriate action. He also announced a contribution of Rs 5 lakh towards the Shaheedi Smarak, the statement said.
Emphasising the need to complete the memorial at the earliest as a fitting tribute to the valour and supreme sacrifices of the martyrs, the governor appealed to the MPs and MLAs to come forward and contribute towards its construction. PTI BPL RUK RUK
