Home guard on duty dies after collapsing in UP’s Sultanpur

Sultanpur (UP), May 13 (PTI) A home guard posted at the SP office here died after suddenly collapsing on the district collectorate premises in the Sultanpur district on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The deceased was identified as Shiv Murti Yadav (50), a resident of Ahirauli Malikpur village under Kotwali Dehat police station area.

According to police, the incident took place at around 3.15 pm when Yadav had come to the office of the arms clerk at the collectorate to deliver official documents.

“While coming out of the office, he suddenly collapsed,” a police officer said.

Employees at the collectorate and fellow home guard personnel immediately rushed to help him and took him to the emergency ward of the Government Medical College, where doctors declared him dead after examination.

On receiving information, Kotwali Nagar police reached the hospital and initiated an inquiry. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the family members have been informed, police said.

The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained.

“Some people are suspecting heatwave or a heart attack, while others believe his blood sugar level may have risen sharply. The actual reason will become clear only after the post-mortem report is received,” the officer said.

Home Guards District Commandant Syed Hussain Abbas said Yadav had been posted at the reader’s office of the SP since the beginning of this month.
