Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 20 (PTI) HLL Lifecare Limited, a Mini Ratna public sector enterprise under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has implemented three new projects aimed at scaling up production capacity and enhancing operational efficiency, officials said on Monday.

The company has commissioned a technologically upgraded 3-Dip Condom Manufacturing Machine at its Irapuram facility in Kochi to produce high volumes of special condom variants, including ultrathin and multi-textured products, for central government programmes as well as commercial use, the company said in a statement.

In addition, a Lube Augmentation Project has been launched to increase the production capacity of personal lubricants, the statement added.

As part of its sustainability initiatives, HLL has also begun using environmentally friendly fuel for boiler operations at the factory, aligning with its commitment to cleaner energy solutions and reduced environmental impact.

The three projects were inaugurated by Anitha Thampi, Chairperson and Managing Director of HLL, it added.

HLL established its Peroorkada factory on April 5, 1969, as its first manufacturing unit. The facility is now among the largest condom manufacturing units globally, with an annual production capacity of 1,246 million units.

During the last financial year, the Peroorkada factory distributed over 100 crore condoms exclusively for national family planning programmes and HIV/AIDS prevention initiatives, the statement added. PTI LGK ADB
