Jaipur, Aug 31 (PTI) A history-sheeter carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 was arrested along with five others in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district, with six illegal firearms and 10 live cartridges recovered from them, police said on Monday.
The main accused, Irfan Khan alias Faan, was wanted in connection with a firing incident earlier this month and had been absconding since then, Hanumangarh SP B Aditya said.
Police formed 10 teams to track Irfan and examined CCTV footage from more than 100 cameras and toll plazas in Hanumangarh, Sriganganagar, Bikaner and nearby areas. Drones were also deployed to search fields and other suspected hideouts, the SP said.
Police received information on Sunday night that Irfan was fleeing on a motorcycle.
A police team spotted a motorcycle in the Chak 22 NDR area and tried to stop it. The two men riding it changed direction in an attempt to escape but fell from the motorcycle, following which Irfan and his associate Priyakant alias Tony Takhar were apprehended.
A .32-bore pistol, a country-made firearm and six live cartridges were recovered from the two, police said.
Information obtained during questioning led police to conduct raids at different locations, resulting in the arrest of four more accused — Jume Khan, Jumme Khan, Ibrahim and Nadeem Khan.
