Meerut (UP), Aug 14 (PTI) The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha on Friday observed Independence Day eve as a “Black Day” and “Day of Mourning” at its office on Sharda Road here, citing the deaths and displacement during the Partition of the country in 1947.

According to a statement issued by the organisation, its national vice president Pandit Ashok Sharma said the Mahasabha has been observing the occasion in this manner for the past 78 years.

Sharma said a large number of people were killed and crores displaced during the partition, and those who lost their lives should be remembered.

According to the statement, members of the organisation paid tribute to those killed during the partition by lighting lamps during the programme. PTI COR KIS AMJ AMJ
