Hamirpur (HP), Aug 20 (PTI) Leopard terror continues in villages of Hamirpur district as the big cat’s sighting was again reported in the Ladraur area for the second time this month.

On Wednesday, a leopard entered the Ladraur Gram Panchayat and killed a young buffalo belonging to a local, Chaman Lal.

The incident came just a few days after a leopard was spotted with two cubs in the fields of Karha Panchayat.

Before these incidents, a leopard had killed a buffalo in Buthbin Tangriyan.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Arvind Kumar, a veterinarian from the Animal Husbandry Department, visited the site on Wednesday evening to inspect the carcass and assess the circumstances of the leopard attack.

Meanwhile, Gram Panchayat Pradhan Savita Kumari stated that the leopard’s persistent activity has instilled fear among the residents. The panchayat has informed the Forest Department.

Villagers have demanded that a cage be installed in the area to capture the leopard. PTI COR BPL AMJ AMJ

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
