Shimla, Jul 4 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar on Tuesday said the wide range of drones holds great significance for the state, besides farmers and the tourism industry.

Inaugurating the Himachal Drone Conclave 2023 and Drone Exhibition at Palampur in Kangra, Kumar said the conclave signifies a remarkable step towards harnessing the power of drone technology in agriculture and allied sectors.

The state government has organized the two-day Himachal Drone Conclave in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University in Palampur, an official statement issued here said.

The conclave witnessed insightful discussions on topics including career opportunities for youths in drone technologies, applications of drone technology for law enforcement, disaster management and forest officials and drones for agriculture/horticulture and forest cover.

The event serves as a catalyst for the adoption and utilization of drones across diverse sectors. Drones have the potential to revolutionize agriculture, disaster management, infrastructure monitoring and more, the statement said.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is scheduled to deliver the valedictory address at the event on Wednesday.

According to the statement, on the final day, an important session on the critical role of drones in delivering medical supplies, facilitating logistics, and their applications in infrastructure management and developmental projects will be discussed.

The session will highlight the ability of drones to provide timely healthcare services, enable quick emergency responses, facilitate transportation of time-sensitive goods, and contribute to environmental sustainability, especially in remote and hilly regions, it said. PTI BPL KVK KVK
