Shimla, Sep 12 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani on Saturday said the state would explore new opportunities for youth and tourism collaboration with Japan.
A Himachal Pradesh delegation led by Dharmani met R Madhu Sudan, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Tokyo, at the Indian Embassy, an official statement said.
The meeting focused on creating opportunities for students and youth from Himachal Pradesh in technical education, skill development, training and employment in Japan.
Madhu Sudan apprised the delegation of the role and functioning of the Indian Embassy in facilitating matters concerning Himachal Pradesh and strengthening engagement with Japan, it said.
Dharmani said there was immense potential to connect Himachal’s youth with Japan’s advanced technical expertise, skill development systems and innovation ecosystem.
Such collaboration could provide students and young people from the state with new opportunities for international education, training and employment, he said.
The minister also stressed the importance of promoting innovation in emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“Japan can provide significant cooperation in enhancing capabilities in AI and building reliable and resilient digital infrastructure. The inclusive development of information technology will foster innovation and open up new avenues of opportunities for young people,” he said.
The meeting also focused on promoting Himachal Pradesh as a preferred tourism destination among Japanese visitors.
Dharmani said the state was known for its natural beauty, cultural heritage, spiritual traditions and peaceful environment.
He said the presence of the Dalai Lama in Dharamshala had contributed to Himachal Pradesh’s global identity as a centre of spiritual and cultural significance.
The minister also highlighted Himachal’s Buddhist heritage and said there was a need to promote Buddhist sites in Japan to attract more visitors and strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.
